Apocalypse Now. Francis Ford Coppolas zweites Meisterwerk, das den Regisseur bis heute nicht loslässt, wurde wenige Jahre nach dem „PATEN“ (1972) begonnen. Martin Sheen trieb das „Method Acting“ auf die Spitze und wurde buchstäblich zu Captain Benjamin L. Willard. Mit der ikonischen Hotel-Szene beginnt ein Projekt, dessen Erzählung und Produktion tatsächlich dem Wahnsinn und dem Tod sehr nahe kam.

Apocalypse Now. Francis Ford Coppola’s second masterpiece, whose final perfection the director still cherishes to this day, was started a few years after THE GODFATHER (1972) and has now been released in three different versions. Martin Sheen took Method Acting to the extreme and literally became Captain Benjamin L. Willard. The iconic hotel scene initializes a project whose narrative and production really comes very close to madness and death. Just as the first completion of the work in 1979 bordered on a miracle.
